Moodbidri: Music Transports Listeners to Another World as 'Alva's Virasat' Concludes

Moodbidri, Jan 8: The four-day ‘Alva’s Virasat’, an annual national music and dance festival, witnessed by thousands of youth and families, concluded on Sunday January 8.
‘Moksha’, a fusion music ensemble by Mahesh Vinayakram and party, Chennai, stole the hearts of music lovers with its unique presentation of vocal art performance.
The involvement of the audience was such that whenever the instruments halted in keeping with the rhythm, it was followed with thunderous rounds of applause. The clarinet by Ambrose Tucker, also known as Shankar Tucker, electronics by Laiq Qureshi, ‘ghatam’ and percussion by N Rajaraman, and ‘Mrudangam’ by Parthasarathy, all proved their mettle. Mahesh Vinayakram concluded the concert by singing ‘Mythrim Bajatha’.
The venue, ‘Shobhavana’ was transformed into a paradise with the marvelous intertwining of various musical instruments. It was a platform for music lovers to give wings to their imagination for the duration of an hour and a half.
At 7.30 pm, renowned singer M D Pallavi took the stage and rendered some poems of Kannada poet Dara Bendre and others. The programme was titled ‘Melody’. Singing a few songs constituting elevated, meaningful lyrics, she held the audience spell bound. The number of people in the audience continued to swell indicating that music has no boundary of caste, creed, or religion.
Renowned Kannada singer Raghu Dixit took the stage at 9 pm and continued the festival of music at Shobhavana. The youth in the audience were particularly thrilled to see one of the popular musicians of the day onstage. Another highlight of the evening was the performances by upcoming cine play back singers.
With these events, the 20th edition of Alva’s Virasat concluded on a musical note.
