Mangalore, Jan 11: “All security arrangements have been put in place by the police commissionerate for the smooth functioning of the much anticipated ‘17th National Youth Festival’ to be held in the city for the first time. Already 900 police officers have been deployed,” said city police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh.

He was speaking to reporters at a press conference held at his office here on Tuesday January 10.

“A 24/7 helpline has been set up and the police will communicate with the people in a cordial manner. Any concerns can be voiced by dialing 100. The delegates arriving at KSRTC bus stand, railway station, and airport will be guided by the police,” said Singh.

“The 22 centers where the delegates will stay are being given more importance as far as security is concerned and all precautionary measures have been taken. Thirty motor bikes will conduct regular traffic patrolling on all the five days,” he said and sought public cooperation.

Parking places are Urva Market Ground, Matha Amrithanandamayi school ground, and TMA Pai Hall parking lot. Singh also told the public to avoid using the road in front of TMA Pai Hall on the first day of the programme as the traffic in the vicinity will be high on that day.

“Additional police have been called in from Karwar, Chikmagalur, and Udupi districts,” he said.

If they are educated, responsible and civilized youth they don't need so many police to control them. It is a sheer waste of govt. machinery.

Do we need 900 Cops to do special duty on National Youth Festival? Do they have to controlled by Cops while conducting Festival? Then I am sure they are not National Youth instead they are “Anti-National thug”. What a shame on our Youths if they involve in disturbing and destructing actions while conducting Youth Festival
