Mumbai, Feb 21: A massive fire broke out in the Santosh Nagar slum, located near the entrance of Film City in Goregaon (East), on Thursday evening. However, no injuries have been reported so far, officials confirmed.
According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the blaze was first reported at 7:29 pm and quickly escalated to a Level-2 (major fire) status by 7:50 pm. Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control within three hours.

A total of 14 fire tenders, equipped with breathing apparatus, ambulances, and other firefighting gear, were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Officials said the fire was restricted to the slum dwellings in the area, with timely evacuation preventing casualties. The exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined.
"The fire has affected around 150-200 hutments. It has been contained from all sides, and firefighting operations are in progress," a fire official stated.
Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made arrangements for temporary shelter and food for at least 200-250 displaced residents at the Gokuldham municipal school.
All relevant agencies, including the 108 ambulance service, are actively engaged in relief efforts, and further details are awaited, officials said.
This incident comes amid a series of fire breakouts in Mumbai. On February 19, a fire erupted at a shop unit in Azad Wadi Chawl, Kandivali, while another blaze on February 11 gutted at least ten shops at a furniture market in Oshiwara. Earlier, on January 25, a fire at the Khadakpada furniture market in Goregaon had damaged multiple shops, though no casualties were reported.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, urging residents to remain cautious.
