Mumbai, Feb 22: Dr R K Shetty, a renowned financial advisor and managing director of Issar Financial Services Private Limited and RK Shetty & Company in Mumbai, has been selected as the keynote speaker (Focus Session Speaker) for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Global Conference, which is set to take place in Macau, China, from August 24 to 27.

Dr Shetty, originally from Kambihalli in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka, is known for his simplicity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his profession. A seasoned financial consultant, he has earned international acclaim for his contributions to the life insurance sector and has had the opportunity to travel extensively, receiving numerous awards and recognition worldwide.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr Shetty is actively involved in social and community service. He currently holds the position of honorary general secretary of the world-famous Bunts Sangha Mumbai (for the second time), president of the Karnataka Janapada Parishad Maharashtra Unit, and advisory member of the Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha Maharashtra.

Dr Shetty is a distinguished 27-time MDRT member, which includes 22 court of the table (COT) and 19 consecutive top of the table (TOT) recognitions—both of which are the highest honours for financial professionals globally. He holds the distinction of being the first Indian to be appointed as MDRT regional chairman for 42 countries and the first Indian selected as a divisional vice president (DVP) in the 82-year history of MDRT.

Moreover, Dr Shetty was a member of MDRT’s 17-member Management Council and has been invited to speak at prestigious MDRT events, including the MDRT Annual Conference held in Indianapolis, USA, and Orlando, USA. He is also the first Indian to be invited as a speaker at the main platform of the top of the Table Annual Meeting in Florida, USA, as well as the 13th APLIC Congress at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore.

Dr Shetty’s exemplary achievements have earned him numerous prestigious awards and recognitions throughout his career. Among these, the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, which was presented by the honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, stands as a testament to his outstanding contributions to the state and the nation. In addition, Dr Shetty received the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the renowned motivational speaker Shiv Khera, in acknowledgment of his long-standing commitment to the financial services industry. His accomplishments also garnered the attention of Bollywood luminaries Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who personally recognised his significant contributions.

Social contributions
Dr Shetty’s philanthropic work is noteworthy. He played an instrumental role in rebuilding a school in Kambihalli, Karnataka, where he himself was educated. He also took it upon himself to serve as a Kannada teacher at a BMC school in Mumbai, at his own expense, and has adopted 62 underprivileged students, providing them with support for their education.

During his tenure as chairman of Bunts Sangha’s Andheri-Bandra region, Dr Shetty extended financial aid to 26 underprivileged families, covered the wedding expenses of a poor girl, and donated sewing machines to empower women economically.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Shetty ensured the distribution of almost 37,000 food packets, PPE kits, masks, and sanitisers to those in need.
