Kannada Artists' Association to host grand 16th Kala Mahotsava in Mumbai on March 22

Mumbai, Feb 26: The much-anticipated 16th edition of the Kala Mahotsava, organized by the Kannada Artists' Association (Regd.), will take place on March 22 at Billava Bhavan, Santacruz, Mumbai.

The event, which promises to be a spectacular celebration of Kannada arts and culture, will be held from 1:30 pm to 8:30 pm. In the lead-up to this grand event, the Association held a crucial pre-event meeting at Billava Bhavan's conference hall, chaired by Dr Surendra Kumar Hegde, the president of the Association.

During the meeting, key details of the Kala Mahotsava were discussed, and plans for the event were finalized. The president welcomed the attendees and provided an overview of the event's preparations.

Chandrashekhar Bhat, the honorary secretary, presented a report on the previous meeting, while PB Chandrahasa, the honorary treasurer, shared updates on the financial aspects of the event.

Dr Surendra Kumar Hegde announced that a selection committee has been formed to choose the recipient of the prestigious Kala Shree Award, which will be presented in memory of Dr RK Shetty. "The committee is currently working on the selection process, and we are excited to release the updated 'Information Book' on the day of the event," he said, highlighting the significance of the award and the event.

This year's Kala Mahotsava will feature a diverse range of performances, showcasing various art forms including Yakshagana, drama, dance, group dance, and music. Among the highlights will be a Yakshagana performance led by renowned artist Damodara Shetty, a dramatic play directed by famed theater director Narayana Shettinandalike, and a musical performance under the direction of celebrated music director Padmanabha Sasiheethu. Actress Chandravathi Devadiga will also lead a captivating dance and group dance performance, adding to the cultural richness of the event.

The Association has invited art lovers, performers, and supporters from all over Mumbai to join in celebrating the vibrant Kannada culture. "We encourage all members, artists, and attendees to come together and make this Kala Mahotsava a resounding success," urged Dr Surendra Kumar Hegde, president of the Kannada Artists' Association.

Other key members including Kamalaksha G Saraf, CA Srinivasa P Saphalya (vice presidents), Chandrashekhar Bhat (honorary secretary), PB Chandrahasa (honorary treasurer), Chandravathi Devadiga (joint secretary), Naveen Shetty Innabalike (joint treasurer), and the entire executive committee are also involved in making this event a memorable celebration of Kannada arts.
