Mumbai, Feb 28: The traffic wing of Mumbai Police has received a WhatsApp message threatening to attack the office of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Following the threat, the Worli Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

According to police sources, the message originated from a Pakistani number, raising suspicions of a possible plot from across the border. The sender identified himself as Malik Shahbaz Humayun Raja Dev.

In response to the threat, security has been tightened around the Chief Minister’s Office, his residence, and other key government establishments. Officials assured that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure safety.

Meanwhile, authorities are working to trace the origin of the message and verify its credibility. Further details are awaited as the probe progresses.

This latest threat comes just days after Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde received a death threat via email on February 20, warning of a bomb attack on his car. The Goregaon and JJ Marg police stations, along with the Mantralaya, had received similar threatening messages.

Swift action by the Mumbai Crime Branch, in coordination with Buldhana police, led to the arrest of two individuals—Mangesh Wayal (35) and Abhay Shingane (22)—from Deulgaon Mahi in Buldhana district on February 21. Both were brought to Mumbai for further investigation.

Following the threat, an FIR was registered at Goregaon Police Station under sections 351 (3), 351 (4), and 353 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Despite the threats, Deputy CM Shinde continued with his official engagements, including attending the swearing-in ceremony of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, alongside CM Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.
