Mumbai, Feb 28: A major fire broke out on the 42nd floor of a residential high-rise in Byculla, South Mumbai, on Friday morning. No casualties have been reported so far, officials confirmed.

According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the blaze started around 10:45 am in one of the twin towers of Salsette 27, located on Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighting operations are currently underway.

Officials stated that teams from the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), Mumbai Police, 108 Ambulance Services, and other agencies were immediately mobilized to assist in the rescue and firefighting operations.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, thick plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing from the glass facade of the high-rise, visible from a considerable distance.

This incident comes just days after a fire broke out in a five-storey residential building in Marine Lines, South Mumbai, on February 22. Fortunately, all stranded residents were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow fire safety protocols in high-rise buildings. Further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the Byculla fire.
