L V Amin Doddikatte elected as new honorary president of Billava Association Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 28: The Billava Association Mumbai, a prominent social organization in the financial capital of the country, has elected L V Amin Doddikatte as its new honorary president. The decision was made by the executive committee, who unanimously chose him for the esteemed position in the Association’s 93rd year of service.

The election took place during a meeting held at the Billava Bhavan in Santacruz, and L V Amin has been selected as the honorary president for the term 2025-28. The position was previously held by Jay C Suvarna, who served the association for over three decades and was later honoured as the lifetime honorary president after his passing.

Harish G Amin, the current president of the association, along with office-bearers, appointed L V Amin Doddikatte for this role.

The association, which encompasses around 21 local chapters across Maharashtra, has been instrumental in strengthening the community’s presence. L V Amin, who has served in key roles, including president and senior vice-president, will now take on additional responsibilities to further enhance the association’s influence and service to the community.

About L V Amin Doddikatte:

L V Amin, born to Venappa Poojary and Abbayya Amin of Doddikatte, Bajpe in the undivided South Canara district, is a dedicated professional and philanthropist. He pursued his education in Bajpe before moving to Mumbai, where he worked as a labourer, eventually becoming a self-employed entrepreneur and a well-known political figure. Amin holds a diploma in mechanical draftsmanship.

He has served in several significant political roles, including the president of the South Indian unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mumbai, the president of the Santacruz Vidhana Sabha constituency, and the treasurer of BJP’s North Western division.

Currently, he is a member of the Mumbai BJP’s executive committee. Amin has also played a prominent role in social and educational services, being the president of the Shiv Ganesh Mandir in Vakhola, Santacruz East, and holding positions in various community organizations.

In addition to his political and social contributions, L V Amin is a successful entrepreneur and the managing director of Ambika Moldtech Pvt Ltd, and the chairman of the Ambika Group of Companies. His dedication to the community is reflected in his active involvement in various organizations and social initiatives.

Amin’s work has earned him recognition and awards, including the Salute Mumbai award in 2002 for his contributions to politics and social service, and the Bharat Jyoti award in 2006 for his work in literature and culture. In 2018, he was honored with the Asia Pacific Achievers Award for his exceptional service at the Global Foundation Achievers conference in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

His wife, Sudha L V Amin, and their three children live in a fulfilling life in Kalina, Santacruz East, while he continues to contribute towards the welfare of society and community development.
