Union minister’s daughter harassed at fair; four held, political storm erupts

Jalgaon, Mar 3: Maharashtra police have arrested three individuals and detained one minor in connection with the harassment and molestation of Union Minister Raksha Khadse’s daughter at a religious fair in Jalgaon. The incident, which occurred last Friday, has sparked political outrage.

Police sources confirmed the arrest of Aniket Bhoyi, Kiran Mali, and Anuj Patil, along with the detention of a minor. A case has been registered against seven persons, with authorities actively searching for others linked to the incident. The arrests followed a complaint filed by Minister Khadse’s security guard.

Expressing deep anguish, Minister Raksha Khadse remarked, “If the daughter of a Union Minister and MP is not safe, what about others?” She took up the matter with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging strict action. CM Fadnavis condemned the incident, assuring that no one, irrespective of political affiliation, would be spared.

The case has taken a political turn, with Minister Khadse and NCP(SP) leader Eknath Khadse alleging the involvement of Shiv Sena activists from Muktainagar. The minister revealed that miscreants harassed her daughter and friends at the Sant Muktabai fair, even pushing the security guard and filming the girls before deleting the video.

With the state assembly’s budget session set to begin on Monday, the opposition has vowed to raise the issue. Congress, NCP(SP), and Shiv Sena (UBT) slammed the Mahayuti government, accusing it of failing to curb crimes against women. Congress leader Harshwardhan Sapkal labeled the situation as "jungle raj," demanding CM Fadnavis’ resignation.
