Jaipur, Mar 4: Jaipur Police on Monday detained Abhay Singh, popularly known as 'IIT Baba’, under the NDPS Act for possessing marijuana. He gained social media fame during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

Acting on a tip-off, the Shiprapath police detained IIT Baba from a hotel but later released him on a bail bond due to the small quantity of ganja found in his possession.

Authorities stated that police responded to a call about a potential suicide attempt at Riddhi Siddhi Park Classic Hotel. When officers arrived, they found Abhay Singh, who admitted to being under the influence of ganja.

Mansarovar police station's IPS trainee Aditya Kakare confirmed the ganja recovery but noted that the suicide claim is yet to be verified. "We acted on information from a doctor who reported IIT Baba's presence in the hotel," he added.

During the search, police recovered two grams of ganja. After his release, IIT Baba reportedly asked police to wish him a happy birthday, expressing confusion over their presence.

He denied the allegations, arguing that if his actions warranted arrest, many others would face similar consequences.

Recently, IIT Baba made headlines, alleging an assault during a news debate on a private TV channel in Noida.

Surprising that only 1 baba is arrested. That too becoz he was propped up by media and was made famous. No body is bothered about the mass scale use and supply of ganja on some events. People get excited when ganja is seized only when the name of criminals is of interest.
