Chamarajanagar, Mar 4: A Bengaluru-based family, including 40-year-old J Nishanth, his wife Chandana, and their 10-year-old son, has vanished under mysterious circumstances from a resort near Bandipur in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district.

According to Gundlupet police, the family checked into the Country Club resort on March 2 but disappeared the very next day. The trio left their luggage behind, drove off in their car, and never returned. The car was last traced to Mangala Road in the Bandipur forest area, after which there has been no sign of them.

Superintendent of police B T Kavitha visited the resort and directed officers to intensify the investigation.

During preliminary inquiries, it was discovered that Nishanth had booked the resort using a fake identity card, posing as an employee of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). However, further investigation revealed that he was unemployed.

Authorities suspect Nishanth may have been attempting to escape harassment by moneylenders, as it is believed he was under significant financial stress and had taken heavy loans.

The police are exploring multiple angles, including the possibility of abduction by creditors or the chance that the family may have voluntarily ventured into the forest.

A search operation has been launched in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mysuru city in Karnataka.

The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge as the case unfolds.
