I am totally in consonance with Nitesh-Kulur. He has rightly pointed out the condition of the roads, and this is right from Kundapur to Mangalore, it is virtual death trap, added to the confusing roads are the speeding pvt. buses plying between Kundapur-Udipi-Mangalore! Govt. should provide adequate compensation to the maimed, and to the next of kin for completely failing to provide basic infrastructure to its citizens!!!

the accident occurred due to the half constructed roads....there are so many diversions to be taken on that highway nowadays...so the drivers would not know when to change lanes.....i know coz i've driven on this stretch of highway....it is very dangerous for 3 or more years to come.....not to mention the express buses plyin on high speed here.....

Mglor has one of the worst infrastructure in place especially when it comes to roads. Everything has been done haphazardly without any planning absolutely. The public has to bear the brunt of all these deficiencies despite paying heavy taxes to the Govt. Just think about the lives lost just starting this year......unimaginable, we are overtaking Bihar in road accidents I think!!

Jossey Saldanha, Mangalore/Mapusa/ Mumbai i think you have good experience riding bullock carts. Also dont blame the roads everytime, but we have to blame the people first. There are many people who ride two wheelers, four wheelers as if they are the king of the roads. As a result such accident takes place.

Is there any provision to file cases against the RTOs for their slackness in the traffic rules that kill innocent people on wheels as whale as the pedestrians on the side of the roads?
    1. Buses and Lorries stop and park their vehicles on the road as they wish either to have Tiffin or Booze with least concern for ongoing traffic on the National Highways.
    2. Local buses and taxis stop at the road curves to take passengers and that causes panic moments to the speeding vehicles on the highways.
    3. Public Carrier buses and Tankers over-speed on the highways like killer monsters’ and sometime the drivers even speak on mobile while speeding.
    4. Public & private vehicles dump bolder stones on the highways after repairing their breakdown vehicles and that is the nightmare for the vehicles in the night.
    5. Tankers and Lorries queue their loaded vehicles on both sides of the road to pay taxes with lease concern to park them outside the yellow lines.
    6. The local buses feels that the national highways are their bus stops and stop opposite one another to have a quick chat.
    7. There are unscientifically constructed road-dividers, road humps and religious Gates on the national highways erected by the local organisations without any pre-warning sign boards and reflectors to warn the tired NH drivers in the night.
    8. RTOs are highly corrupt hence the local public carrier vehicles don’t care to follow the rules. There should be a stop to loss of innocent lives due to the multiple faults of RTOs and Ministry of Road Transport and Highway.

    Hi,
By the impact of the accident it seems like the Qualis was at a VERY high speed.
Careless and reckless driving has been taking lives of SO many and in this case the life of the Omni driver, guess due to no fault of his.
I sincerely feel, clear theory lessons too should be introduced by the RTO at Driving schools whereby value of lives should be taught to the new drivers.
For that matter Maruti has taken the lead by having world class driving schools and take the learners much beyond just the driving of a vehicle alone.
    Kind Regards

New vehicles are manufactured to drive at 140 kmph but our roads are capable only for bullock carts.

Very disheartening news. May Almighty bless the departed souls and give strength to family members for bearing the loss.

Looking at the rear side of truck, there are no reflector lights for alerting the vehicle behind to ensure presence of vehicle ahead. Road Transport Authority is to be squarely balmed for passing the vehicle, that too, an trailer intended to carry heavy loads on our struggling roads with minimal safety measures. Let us hope for the concerned to take stern action on the resposible authority who had provided FC (Fitness Certificate) to this Trailer.

‘O Allaah, so-and-so is under Your care and protection so protect him from the trial of the grave and torment of the Fire. Indeed You are faithful and truthful. Forgive and have mercy upon him, surely You are The Oft-Forgiving, The Most-Merciful.’

‘O Allaah, forgive and have mercy upon him, excuse him and pardon him, and make honourable his reception. Expand his entry, and cleanse him with water, snow and hail, and purify him of sin as a white robe is purified of filth. Exchange his home for a better home, and his family for a better family, and his spouse for a better spouse. Admit him into the Garden, protect him from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.’

I would request the traffic authorities to install more Radars on the road to bring the speeding vehicles under control with heavy fines and punish the drivers with black points or cease their license. Only this way speeding of vehicles in Mangalore can be brought under control and lower the rate of accidents. Now driving has become toys play for some careless drivers, who will kill us at any time.

I think der was not much safety symbols on the back of the truck to keep other vehicle drivers aware that there is a truck passing in front as there was no body built behind the truck, der must be some radium or red lights attached to the truck while traveling on the road at night...

My heartily condolences for the diseased..
