St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) AIMIT organises ‘Hands-on Robotics’ workshop

Mangaluru, Mar 18: A workshop on ‘Hands-on Robotics: Designing the Future’ was organized by the Department of MSc (software technology) on March 17 and 18. The inaugural ceremony was held on both the days.

Prof Tad Gonsalves from Sophia University inaugurated the workshop along with his team members by symbolic lighting of the lamp. The event was graced by the presence of Dr (Fr) Kiran Cotha SJ, director, AIMIT, Dr Hemalatha N, dean, SIST, and Dr Ruban S, head of the department, MSc (software technology).

A team of AI and Robotics specialists from Sophia University consisting of Prof Tad Gonsalves, Seunghwan Oh, Rina Oh, Reo Nishimura, Gen Kasahara handled the sessions on both the days. The workshop was attended by 37 students who are pursuing their MSc (data science, BDA, ST) and MCA II sem on day1 and by 37 students from other engineering colleges in and around Mangaluru on day 2.

The workshop was a total hands-on session, where participants engaged in building a Raspberry Pi-based robotic arm and participated in various team-building activities. The sessions concluded with an evaluation of each group’s performance, recognizing their efforts and dedication. Overall, the workshop was highly appreciated by the participants for its practical approach and interactive learning experience, making it a truly unique and enriching event. This workshop was coordinated by Suchetha Vijayakumar and Dr Srinivas BL, faculty members from the school of information science and technology.
