New Delhi, Mar 20: Maharashtra authorities have cracked down on 52 Bangladeshi infiltrators who allegedly obtained Indian birth certificates through fraudulent means, raising serious concerns over security and documentation fraud.
According to police sources, the accused submitted false information to municipal offices, misleading officials to procure birth certificates—an essential document for establishing Indian citizenship. The fraud was uncovered following a detailed verification process initiated by local authorities.

A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Foreigners Act, and an investigation is underway to trace individuals involved in facilitating the racket. Officials suspect the involvement of a larger network that assists illegal immigrants in obtaining forged Indian identity documents.
Law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to curb such fraudulent activities and have directed municipal bodies to enforce stricter verification protocols while issuing official documents. Authorities are also exploring whether the accused had access to other Indian identity proofs obtained through similar means.
The incident has sparked security concerns, prompting officials to enhance vigilance and ensure that legal action is taken against those involved in document forgery and illegal immigration.
