RESPINEXT workshop sets new standards in respiratory care training at Yenepoya University

Mangaluru, Apr 1: Department of respiratory therapy YSAHS, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Respiratory Care (IARC), successfully hosted RESPINEXT, a comprehensive two-day south zone hands-on workshop, on March 27 and 28, at the ACTS-YEN Simulation Centre, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital.

Organized on the occasion of World Sleep Day, the workshop focused on advanced techniques, innovations, and hands-on training in respiratory care, attracting medical professionals, faculty members, and students from across the country.

The event was presided over by Dr B H Sripathi Rao, pro vice-chancellor, Yenepoya University, alongside distinguished guests:

The chief guest, Madhuragauri Shevade (governor for India - ICRC, vice chair - IARC), delivered an insightful keynote address, emphasizing the importance of innovations in respiratory care and sleep medicine.

Experts from across India conducted scientific sessions on mechanical ventilation, sleep-disordered breathing, ARDS management, lung ultrasound, and more. These lectures provided an in-depth understanding of the latest advancements in pulmonary medicine and critical care.

Participants engaged in skill-building workshops, enhancing their clinical expertise through real-time case simulations. Topics included:

As part of the South zone hands-on workshop, participants rotated across seven dedicated training stations, covering:

3? Bronchoscopy – Practical applications

4 Airway management - Intubation techniques & emergency airway care

5 Sleep study setup & interpretation – Troubleshooting & analysis

7 Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Life-saving interventions

Professional development & cre credits:

Participants gained 5 Continuing Respiratory Education (CRE) credits, recognized by the IARC, enhancing their professional growth.
