Ankara, Apr 11: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to working closely with Indonesia to aid in the reconstruction of Gaza and to jointly advocate for the Palestinian cause.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Ankara alongside visiting Indonesian Defence Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto, Erdogan said, “We appreciate Indonesia’s unwavering support on the Palestinian issue. In the period ahead, we will continue our collaboration to rebuild Gaza and stand firm in defense of Palestine.”

The remarks followed high-level talks between the two leaders, during which they agreed to bolster ties across a range of sectors including defense, construction, healthcare, energy, and the food industry.
“We have decided to initiate new projects in strategic areas. Our discussions today also included steps to boost bilateral trade to our shared target of 10 billion US dollars, in a balanced and mutually beneficial manner,” President Erdogan stated. He added that several agreements were signed, covering cooperation in culture, disaster and emergency response, and communication.
Highlighting the diplomatic synergy between the two nations, Erdogan noted that Turkey and Indonesia continue to support each other across global platforms.
Earlier in the day, Prabowo Subianto also addressed the Turkish Grand National Assembly. According to Indonesia’s Cabinet Secretariat, Subianto spoke of the “long history of solidarity” between Indonesia and Turkey, reiterating his country’s commitment to working alongside Ankara in supporting the Palestinian people and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Meanwhile, reports from Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency confirmed that Prabowo will be attending the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, set to take place from Friday to Sunday in the coastal city of Antalya. The forum is expected to bring together global leaders, diplomats, and policymakers to discuss pressing international issues.
