New Delhi, Apr 13: India kicked off another energetic edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, with over 300 cycling events taking place simultaneously across the country, uniting communities in a shared mission of fitness, fun, and environmental consciousness.

In the national capital, the event was flagged off by Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary of Sports, at New Moti Bagh, where more than 350 enthusiastic cyclists — including local residents and members of various Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) — hit the pedals in unison.

The pan-India initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Fit India Movement, witnessed the participation of athletes, police personnel, and citizens across cities and towns, all rallying around the cause of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

Speaking at the Delhi event, Chaturvedi highlighted the growing popularity of the movement:

"Fit India has become a true people's movement. Today, around 300 cycling events are happening nationwide. We also recently had the Fit India Carnival at JLN Stadium, which even found a mention in the Prime Minister’s Mann ki Baat. These activities are creating a culture of fitness across India."

Adding inspiration to the Delhi event were sports personalities like Greco-Roman wrestler Nitesh Siwach, a bronze medalist at the 2025 Asian Wrestling Championships, and Rohtash Choudhary, better known as the 'Push-Up Man of India,' who holds multiple Guinness World Records for his strength feats.

Siwach emphasized the importance of consistent fitness:

“True wealth is mental and physical health. Initiatives like this bring people together, create awareness, and push us toward a better future.”

Across the country, similar scenes unfolded. At SAI RC Imphal, legendary weightlifter and Padma Shri awardee Kunjarani Devi flagged off a cycling rally, motivating participants with her presence and passion for wellness.

In Salem, Tamil Nadu, the SAI Training Centre hosted another vibrant edition, inaugurated by track and field athlete Suresh Kumar S., a decorated medallist at the World Police Athletic Championships. His support further amplified the region’s enthusiasm for fitness and community engagement.

The day-long nationwide effort reinforced the Fit India message: fitness is for all, and it starts with simple steps like cycling together every Sunday.
