Muscat, Apr 20: In a significant step forward in the ongoing nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran, foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi of Iran and US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff have agreed to move to the next phase of talks. The meeting, held in Rome, was mediated by Omani foreign minister Badr Albusaidi.

Both parties have expressed a commitment to reaching a fair and lasting agreement on Tehran’s nuclear programme. The Omani Ministry highlighted the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation in fostering a mutually credible agreement that benefits both regional and international peace.

The next round of discussions is set to take place in Muscat, signaling the continued dedication of Oman as a mediator in the process. Minister Albusaidi praised the constructive approach taken by both sides, calling it a hopeful sign for future progress in the negotiations.

These talks come amidst Iran's insistence on a serious approach despite concerns about the intentions of the US. The discussions are focused on Iran’s civilian nuclear program and the potential easing of American sanctions.
