Mumbai, Apr 25: In a remarkable turnaround, Mumbai City FC secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the Kalinga Super Cup, defeating Chennaiyin FC 4-0 just two weeks after a heavy 0-5 defeat to Bengaluru FC in the ISL Playoffs. Despite a lacklustre season as defending champions, Mumbai's resilient performance against Chennaiyin showcased their determination and growth.
Lallianzuala Chhangte, who scored a brace in the opening game of the Super Cup, spoke to IANS about the team's evolution. "We’ve learned from our mistakes, and it has made us better footballers and better people. We’re not just focused on individual performances, but as a team. With so many injuries and only two foreign players available, the squad has stepped up, and we know that the Super Cup is do or die," he said.

Looking ahead to their quarterfinal clash with Inter Kashi, Chhangte emphasized the need for focus and respect for their opponents. "Inter Kashi are a very strong team, and we respect them. But we’re more focused on what we can do as a team. We’ve been working hard and are fully prepared for the battle ahead," he added.
Chhangte also praised Mumbai's performance against Chennaiyin, calling it "beautiful" and acknowledging that the upcoming match against Inter Kashi would be an even greater challenge. "The mindset we have now needs to continue, regardless of the opponent. It will be more difficult than our first match, and we have to be fully focused," he concluded.
With their eyes set on Super Cup glory, Mumbai City FC are determined to build on their momentum and continue their quest for success in the tournament.
