Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Jan 20: The body of a youth was found lying under suspicious circumstances by the side of railway tracks near the main circle of B C Road here on Thursday January 19. The youth has been identified as Ratnakar (23), son of Kariya Poojary from Alambayi near Rayi.

After learning about the incident, police personnel of the town police station rushed to the spot and then handed the case over to the railway police. The railway police expressed the opinion that the youth would have died after having been knocked down by a train on Wednesday night. They added that actual cause of death would be known only after the report on the post mortem that was conducted on Thursday is received.

Ratnakar, a well-built unmarried person, worked as a driver for a truck engaged in transporting of crushed stones from a stone quarry in Iruvail near Kuppepadavu. Those who knew him said there was no chance of him approaching the spot where his body was found. They point out that a missing complaint about him, lodged with the police about two months back, had been solved amicably after the intervention of the police. They feel that a gang of miscreants would have killed Ratnakar and then disposed off his body by the side of the railway tracks. Parents of Ratnakar said that a deep gash on their son’s head and the fact that his teeth have come off, point out to violent attack by a gang.

The locals have urged the policemen to undertake detailed investigation and nail the culprits involved with this murder.
