Washington, Apr 29: In an unexpected move, former US President Donald Trump has wished "good luck" to Canadians as they approach their upcoming elections, while once again proposing that Canada become the 51st state of the United States.
Trump, known for his provocative statements and bold political ideas, took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express his thoughts. He claimed that the United States spends "hundreds of billions of dollars" on Canada each year and argued that this financial support is no longer sustainable unless Canada becomes part of the US.

"Good luck to the Great people of Canada," Trump wrote. "Elect the man who has the strength and wisdom to cut your taxes in half, increase your military power, for free, to the highest level in the World, have your Car, Steel, Aluminum, Lumber, Energy, and all other businesses, QUADRUPLE in size, WITH ZERO TARIFFS OR TAXES, if Canada becomes the cherished 51st State of the United States of America."
This remark reignites the ongoing conversation around Trump’s controversial stance on Canada and his repeated calls for the country to join the US as a state, a proposal that has sparked both admiration and criticism over the years.
