Mangalore, Jan 21: The media has a responsibility towards the world, said Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal of St Aloysius College, at the inauguration of Media Manthan 2012.
 
The two day national level seminar on Media and Environment was inaugurated symbolically by planting saplings.

The chief guest of the function, Fr Swebert D’Silva, speaking on the occasion, welcomed the delegates to St Aloysius College and congratulated the Dept for choosing such an important and relevant topic for the event as it has become the need of the hour.  “As media you need to seek for the truth and ensure that this truth is not altered in any way to suit your convenience", he stressed.

The inaugural function was followed by Paper Presentation on topics related to Media and Environment. Dr Richard Rego, HOD of the Dept of Mass Communication chaired paper presentation session of the expert category. Professors and experts from various colleges and universities from Karnataka, Kerala, Goa and Pune presented papers.

Intercollegiate level competitive events such as Ice-breakers, In-Grid (Story Board), Shutter Bug (Photography), and On Air (Live Reporting) were conducted during the first day of the event.
Delegates from around ten colleges are participating in Media Manthan 2012.

Day 2 of Media Manthan will have paper presentation by students and some teachers, besides having intercollegiate level competitions like Mobile Frames (Mobile Film Making on environment), RJ Hunt (Radio Jockeying), and Drop Cap (News Bulletin).
