Udupi: 'Parichaya', Forum for Promotion of Arts to be Inaugurated on Jan 22

Udupi, Jan 21: ’Parichaya', a new forum for the promotion of arts, culture and literature will be inaugurated in the premises of the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor here on Sunday January 22 at 6 pm .

K Ravi Bhat, well-known TV artist from Bangalore  will preside over the inaugural function. Fr Charles Lewis, parish priest of Pamboor  will be giving ‘ashirvachana’.  K S Shridhar Moorthy, former lecturer of St Mary’s College, Shirva will inaugurate the ‘Parichaya’ forum and John Monis, editor of the Konkani monthly ‘Dirvem’ will release the book.

Following the inauguration of the ‘Parichaya’ forum there will be variety entertainment programme such as ‘Nrityasinchana’ by Nrityaniketana Group of Kodavooru Udupi; mimicry by Pattabhirama Sullia and ‘Court Martial’ Tulu play presented by Karavali Kalavidharu, Udupi.

Accrding to the organizers,  ‘Parichaya’ forum of arts, culture and literature is open to all irrespective of religion,  caste and language.  The aims and objectives of the forum include: Promotion of local art, literature, music, dance, folklore, etc;  encouragement to knowledge development activities such as reading of books and writing; to provide clean entertainment to the rural people by promoting  local talents; to identify and encourage artists, writers and talented persons in other aspects of art and culture;  and to acquaint the local people with the art and culture of neighbouring regions and sharing our culture and art with them.

The ‘Parichaya’ forum comprises of the following office bearers: Vincent Alva-Honorary President, Anil D’Sa-President, Prakash Noronha-Secretary,  Ivan Peter-Treasurer and Pundalik Marathe-Public Relation Officer.
