New Delhi, May 5: In a major step towards digitizing electoral services, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to launch ECINET, a new, user-friendly digital platform that will integrate over 40 existing mobile and web applications offered by the Commission.

ECINET aims to provide a seamless and simplified experience for users by offering a single platform for all electoral-related activities. With an aesthetic User Interface (UI) and a simplified User Experience (UX), the platform will reduce the need for downloading multiple apps and managing various logins.

Currently in the advanced stages of development, ECINET is undergoing rigorous trials to ensure smooth functionality and robust cybersecurity measures. The platform is being developed following extensive consultations with 36 Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), 767 District Election Officers (DEOs), and over 4,100 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) across states and Union Territories.

ECINET will consolidate several existing apps, such as the Voter Helpline, cVIGIL, Suvidha 2.0, ESMS, Saksham, and KYC apps, which together have amassed over 5.5 cr downloads. The new platform will provide real-time access to accurate electoral data, with data input exclusively by authorized ECI officials.

Expected to benefit nearly 100 cr electors, ECINET will serve the entire electoral machinery, including 10.5 lac Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 15 lac Booth Level Agents (BLAs), 45 lac polling officials, and other key electoral personnel.

This initiative is poised to streamline electoral processes and enhance accessibility for voters and officials alike.
