Mangaluru, May 17: In response to the barbaric terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, where 26 innocent tourists were killed based on their religion, the Indian government launched a successful retaliatory strike titled ‘Operation Sindhoor’ against Pakistan. To commemorate this triumph and to honour the valour of the Indian armed forces, Sindhoor Vijayotsava Committee, Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada district, has organised a victory rally and celebration.
The victory march will begin at 3 pm on May 20 from PVS Circle, Mangaluru, and conclude at Karavali Utsav Grounds, followed by a public programme at 5 pm.

The event, organised under the aegis of Sindhoor Vijayotsava Committee, Mangaluru, aims to pay tribute to the unmatched courage and might of India’s armed forces, and to showcase the nation's ability and determination to resist injustice and barbarity. It stands as a powerful message to the world that India’s tolerance has limits and a transformed India will not hesitate to act when provoked.
Following revelations that Pakistan’s army, ISI, and terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba and its proxy The Resistance Front were behind the heinous Pahalgam massacre, the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, resolved to take decisive action. Operation Sindhoor was India’s firm response to those who tried to wipe off the 'Sindhoor' of our mothers and sisters.
As the first major move, India scrapped the Indus Waters Treaty, delivering a major blow to Pakistan’s economy, using the same precedent set by Pakistan when it withdrew from the Shimla Agreement. The decision was followed by diplomatic actions that highlighted Pakistan-sponsored terrorism on global platforms, effectively isolating the country internationally. Indian armed forces were then granted full operational clearance for further action.
On the midnight of May 7 at 1:44 AM, Indian forces conducted a widespread strike on terror bases within Pakistan. In a precise 23-minute operation, over 100 terrorists were neutralised. Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile strikes, causing civilian casualties. India took this seriously, intercepting all attacks and launching counterattacks that destroyed Pakistani military bases responsible for the aggression.
In this operation, nine terrorist camps and eight Pakistani military installations were eliminated. India ensured no civilian casualties during the offensive, targeting only terror hubs with surgical precision.
The success of Operation Sindhoor was announced to the world by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and two decorated women officers, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. This global communication reflected India’s civility, commitment, and resolve to protect the 'Sindhoor' of its women and the honour of the nation.
Shaken by India’s might, Pakistan was forced to plead for a ceasefire, which was declared after talks between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations.
In celebration of this victory, and to salute the fearless efforts of India’s armed forces, the Sindhoor Vijayotsava has been organised. The public is invited to attend in large numbers and send a strong message of solidarity and respect to our brave soldiers.
Gurudatta Nayak, Keshava Nandodi, and CA Shantarama Shetty were present at the press conference.
