Adani group dismisses WSJ allegations as ‘Baseless and mischievous’

New Delhi, Jun 3: The Adani Group has strongly refuted allegations made by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), which linked its entities to the handling of Iranian LPG in violation of US sanctions. Terming the report as “baseless and mischievous,” the conglomerate issued a firm rebuttal through a regulatory filing on Monday.

In a detailed statement, the Adani Group clarified that it has no involvement with any cargo originating from Iran or vessels operating under the Iranian flag at any of its ports. “The Adani Group does not handle any cargo from Iran at any of its ports. Additionally, the group does not manage or facilitate any ships whose owners are Iranian,” the statement read, asserting that such policies are strictly enforced across all Adani-managed ports.

Responding to WSJ’s claim of a purported investigation by US authorities, the group said it was unaware of any such probe. “The WSJ story appears to be based entirely on incorrect assumptions and speculation. Any suggestion that Adani group entities are knowingly in contravention of US sanctions on Iran is strongly denied,” the company added.

Adani Group further stated that any claims indicating its deliberate breach of sanctions were “not only slanderous but also deemed to be an intentional act to injure the reputation and interests of the group.”

The firm emphasized its compliance with international laws and reaffirmed its commitment to ethical business practices, signaling readiness to take legal recourse, if necessary, to protect its reputation.
