Mangalore, Jan 25: The 7th anniversary of MPMLA’s News was celebrated with the event ‘6th Souharda Sangama’ held at Town Hall on Tuesday January 24.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, said that it’s good to see the efforts taken by Ashok Shetty BN, the editor of MPMLA’s News, to bring out a journal even with his physical incapability.

“Ashok Shetty is a journalist with a heart with concern for society. Many people turned out as a mark of appreciation for his venture,” he opined.
 
Adding further, he said that there is ample opportunity in the field of journalism to mold society and to uplift the people who are sidelined. “When an individual inculcates the habit of tolerance for others’ feeling, there would not be a division in the society on the basis of religion, caste or creed,” he said.
 
Dharmadharshi Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Karnataka Sahitya Parishat (KSP), presided over the inaugural ceremony. P Ismail Moodshedde of ‘Namma Bhoomi’ weekly paper inaugurated the exhibition of various publications. He shared the dais with D Chandappa Mulia.
 
A musical evening was organized as a part of this event. Ravindra Prabhu, Gangadhar Padubidri, Ibrahim Bhathish, and Rajaram Prabhu were some of the singers.
 
During the valedictory programme, awards were given for contribution to theatres, media, and for working for the general public. ‘Dada Malperapundu’ a Tulu comedy drama, will be staged to mark this event.
