Mangaluru, Jun 3: The orientation programme for the second year PU students for the academic year 2025–26 was held at St Aloysius PU College. The event centred around the inspiring theme ‘Dream, discover and deliver’, encouraging students to aim high, explore their potential, and work towards meaningful success.
Motivational sessions were conducted separately for the science, commerce, and arts streams.





















Dr Supriya Hegde Aroor, professor and head of the department of psychiatry at Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, addressed the students of the science stream. She captivated the audience with real-life examples and practical insights, highlighting how positive mental health is a dynamic state influenced by various factors including self-awareness, time management, stress management, adaptability, and prioritisation. Dr Supriya emphasised that by recognising personal strengths and weaknesses, coping with stress, embracing flexibility, and setting clear priorities, individuals can enhance their mental well-being and lead fulfilling lives. She encouraged students to dream boldly, discover their inner strengths, and deliver their best in all endeavours.
Dr Kavyashree K B, assistant professor in the department of psychology at St Agnes College, Mangaluru, addressed the commerce and arts students on the topic ‘Your mind, your choices’. She focused on the role of personal empowerment in mental health, explaining how cultivating self-awareness, managing time effectively, adopting healthy coping strategies, and setting clear priorities can help individuals make informed decisions that support their mental well-being. She further stressed the importance of recognizing the power of choice in shaping one’s mental health journey.
The vice principals, Muralikrishna G M (Science stream) and Vilma Fernandes (Commerce and Arts streams), addressed the students, shared important college guidelines, and encouraged them to participate actively in the college community.
Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, campus minister, along with the deans, Kiran Shetty and Inas Dais graced the occasion. Liliann Benjamin from the department of English and Deyan Crasta from the department of mathematics compered the programme.
