Bantwal, Jan 25: Over 50 poor families residing in Kalliga village under Thumbe gram panchayat, led by MLA B Ramanath Rai, picketed the Tahsildar痴 office on Tuesday January 24.

The protesters alleged that the taluk administration has been postponing the issuance of title deeds for the families who are living in mud houses on government land since 40 years. Despite their pleas to the concerned department officials, their grievances have not been addressed.

Rai urged Tahsildar Narayan Rao to issue title deeds for household families only after checking on the authenticity of their cases.

Local Congress leader Padmanabha Naringana and others led the protest.
