Mumbai, Jun 9: The 'Shreekrishna Kathamrutam' Yakshagana Tala-Maddale Week organized by the BSKBA Association's Gokul unit in Sion (East), Mumbai, commenced on Monday afternoon at the Dr Suresh Rao Kateel stage at the Gokul Sabha Bhavan.
The event is part of year-long cultural celebrations marking the centenary of the BSKBA Association (Gokul). The week-long Yakshagana Tala-Maddale program was inaugurated with a special puja offered to Lord Shreekrishna at the Shri Gopalakrishna Mandir within the Gokul campus. Gokul's chief priest Vedamoorthy Srinivas Bhat Dharegudde invoked blessings and inaugurated the program with a devotional prayer.
President of BSKBA and Gopalakrishna Public Trust, Dr Suresh S Rao Kateel, along with office-bearers, welcomed the artists and formally inaugurated the event in a traditional manner.




The inaugural session featured a performance of Shreekrishnavatarana – Kamsavadha, narrated in Bhagavatike style by Satyanarayana Puninchittaya. The episode, penned by poets Parthisubba and Matti Vasudeva Prabhu, was brought to life by prominent artistes: Sunnambala Vishweshwara Bhat (Kamsa), Pashupati Shastri Shirankallu (Vasudeva), Dr Shivakumara Alagodu (Devaki), Vasudeva Rangabhatta Madhur (Shreekrishna), and Sarpangala Eshwara Bhat (Akrura). Manimunda Subrahmanya Shastri, Murari Kadambalittaya, and H Lakshmi Narayana supported the performance on the himmela (musical ensemble).
Present at the occasion were BSKBA secretary APK Poti, joint treasurer Ganesh Bhat, women's wing president Sahana A Poti, Gokul Bhajana Mandali committee president IK Prema S Rao, Gopalakrishna Trust trustees Shailini Rao, KC Kumar, RL Bhat (Jerimeri), Ramavithala Kalluraya, priest Akshay Ballal, former president Subbanna Rao, senior Yakshagana artiste Geetha RL Bhat, and many other renowned artists and art lovers of all ages.
The Shreekrishna Kathamrutam Yakshagana Tala-Maddale Week will continue daily until Sunday, June 15, from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm at Gokul, Sion. Organizers have invited art enthusiasts to attend in large numbers and support the event.
