Horekanike procession held ahead of inauguration of St Anthony Shrine, Pakala

Belman, Jun 9: As part of the celebrations ahead of the new building inauguration at St Anthony's Shrine, Pakala, a grand Hashiru Horekanike (offertory) procession was held on Sunday, June 8. The vibrant procession commenced from St Joseph's Church Belman and reached Pakala Shrine.

Fr Fred Mascarenhas, parish priest of Belman Church, ceremoniously flagged off the procession. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of devotees from across the Shirva deanery, who contributed generously in kind and cash towards the shrine.

Fr Oswald Vaz, assistant parish priest, Gregory Menezes, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council, Janet D’Mello, secretary, Dominic Andrade, convener, 18 Commissions, Alwyn Agera, secretary of the Pakala Shrine Council were present.

The spirit of devotion and community was palpable as the faithful came together in large numbers to support the sacred occasion.

The inauguration and blessings of the newly built St Anthony's Shrine, Manjarpalke will be held on Tuesday, June 10 at 9:30 AM. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Mangalore will inaugurate the new Shrine. This will be followed by the blessing of the chapel and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi. The blessing of the St Anthony Shrine will be carried out by Dr Louis Mascarenhas, bishop of Allahabad. The homily will be preached by Dr Francis Serrao, bishop of Shimoga diocese, adding spiritual depth to the event.
