Washington, Jun 13: In the wake of Israel's recent military action against Iran, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued a clear statement distancing the United States from the strikes, asserting that the operation was solely Israel’s decision.
Speaking late Thursday evening, Rubio said, “Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in the strikes and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.”

The statement comes amid growing tensions in the Middle East following reports of explosions near Tehran and speculation that Israeli airstrikes had targeted key nuclear and military sites in Iran.
Reinforcing Washington's position, Rubio warned Tehran against any retaliatory move that could endanger American personnel or interests stationed across the region. “Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel,” he added.
The statement marks the Biden administration’s efforts to avoid being drawn into a direct conflict between Israel and Iran, even as global powers monitor the unfolding situation closely. The U.S. is reportedly maintaining open channels with regional allies to ensure the security of its assets and citizens.
With the region on high alert, Rubio’s remarks signal a cautious diplomatic stance amid one of the most dangerous flare-ups in years between the two long-time adversaries.
