Mangaluru, Jun 13: In a compassionate gesture under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Karnataka Bank has extended significant support to Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre, reaffirming its commitment to uphold human dignity and care for society's most vulnerable.
Snehalaya, a rehabilitation centre for the abandoned and mentally ill, received 50 warm coats, beds, pillows, and over 700 bedsheets and pillow covers from Karnataka Bank. The contribution, valued at Rs 10.57 lac, aims to provide comfort, warmth, and a sense of dignity to the residents on their journey of recovery.

The event was graced by Vishwanath S R, assistant general manager, and Sham Kumar, manager of Karnataka Bank’s Uchila branch. Also present was Fr Cyril D’Souza, chaplain of Snehalaya, who offered prayers and blessings on the occasion.
Br Joseph Crasta, executive director and the guiding force behind Snehalaya, welcomed the guests and shared the centre’s journey. “These are not just beds or blankets,” he said. “They are symbols of care, hope, and a shared belief in the power of healing. They tell our residents, ‘You are not forgotten. You are loved.’”
He recalled Karnataka Bank’s earlier support in 2021–22, when the bank donated an electric auto to Snehalaya even before the centre had opened an account with them.
Vishwanath expressed appreciation for Snehalaya’s work and said, “I am truly proud that Karnataka Bank’s CSR support has reached a place where it genuinely touches lives. Snehalaya is doing selfless and impactful work, and we assure our continued support in the future.”
Veena, deputy administrator of Snehalaya, expressed gratitude to the bank and its representatives, highlighting how such acts of generosity uplift not just individuals, but entire communities.
The programme witnessed heartfelt moments of unity and joy, with residents and staff joining in celebration—smiles reflecting stories of renewed hope and healing.
Snehalaya extended its gratitude to Karnataka Bank for standing by its mission. In a world that often forgets the forgotten, such gestures remind us that kindness heals and compassion restores.
