CA ends life after Rs 3 cr extortion over private video in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jul 8: In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old chartered accountant, Raj Leela More, died by suicide on Tuesday after allegedly being blackmailed into paying over Rs 3 cr in the past 18 months.

According to officials, More consumed poison and left behind a three-page suicide note, naming two individuals Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi who he said extorted money by threatening to leak his private video. The note revealed that the accused were aware of More's stock market investments and high-paying job, and coerced him into transferring large sums from his company account to their personal accounts. They even allegedly took a luxury car from him.

The suicide note included a heartfelt apology to his mother and colleagues, where More claimed sole responsibility for any financial irregularities and pleaded that his coworkers not be punished.

The police have registered a case of extortion and abetment to suicide against the accused, though no arrests have been made yet.
