Bantwal, July 13: A total of 11,530 cases were settled during the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday at the Bantwal Court under the aegis of the Bantwal Taluk Legal Services Committee, as per the directions of the state and district legal services authorities. An amount of Rs 4,25,33,790, including fines, was recovered, according to a press release from the committee.
Among the resolved cases, 26 were civil suits—including bank recovery and various fee-related matters—through which Rs 66,06,143 was collected. Additionally, 908 criminal cases were settled, including MMDR cases and cheque bounce cases, resulting in the recovery of Rs 73,92,849.

A significant 10,596 pre-litigation cases were also settled, with a total recovery of Rs 2,85,34,798.
The Lok Adalat successfully resolved various civil and criminal disputes through mutual compromise, including property disputes, partition suits, recovery cases, cases under the Specific Relief Act, motor vehicle claims, MMDR and bank recovery cases, matrimonial reconciliations, cheque bounce cases, and other compoundable criminal matters.
The proceedings were presided over by Anila Prakash M P, president of the Bantwal Taluk Legal Services Committee and judge at the Bantwal Senior Civil and JMFC Court; Krishna Murthy N, member-secretary and judge at the Principal Civil and JMFC Court; and Rajendra Prasad, judge at the Additional Civil and JMFC Court.
Advocates Nithin, Amrutha, and Shruti served as mediators. Bantwal Bar Association president Richard Costa M and several senior and junior advocates were also present.
