New Delhi, Aug 10: Industrialist Harsh Goenka has praised Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s “mature” handling of a public jibe from Tesla chief Elon Musk, calling it a “masterclass” in leadership for turning criticism into a celebration of learning and innovation.

“What a masterclass from Satya Nadella – turning Elon’s jab into a celebration of learning, innovation, and partnership. A reminder that the reaction of a mature leader should be to elevate the conversation,” said Goenka, Chairman of RPG Enterprises.

The exchange took place on August 7, when Musk posted on X, “OpenAI is going to eat Microsoft alive,” soon after Nadella announced the rollout of OpenAI’s GPT-5 integration across Microsoft platforms.

Responding, Nadella remarked, “People have been trying for 50 years and that’s the fun of it! Each day you learn something new and innovate, partner, and compete. Excited for Grok 4 on Azure and looking forward to Grok 5!”

Nadella confirmed GPT-5 is being deployed across Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Azure AI Foundry, calling it “the most capable model yet” from OpenAI, with significant advances in reasoning, coding, and chat, all trained on Azure.

OpenAI launched GPT-5 on Thursday, describing it as its most advanced model, built on GPT-4o architecture, offering faster responses, deeper reasoning, improved context retention, and multi-modal capabilities including voice, images, and real-time conversation. It also features enhanced customisation, improved voice mode, and long-term memory, available on both free and paid ChatGPT tiers.

Earlier, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman compared GPT-5’s launch to the Manhattan Project, saying it left him with “awe and unease,” recalling scientists’ reactions to the first atomic test. Sharing his personal experience, Altman admitted feeling “useless” compared to the AI’s abilities, calling it “not human scale kind of power.”
