Thane, Aug 12: In a shocking incident, two cousin brothers were brutally murdered by unidentified assailants in Khardi village of Bhiwandi, Thane district, late on Monday night.
According to police, the attack took place around 11.30 pm when the victims, identified as Praful Tangdi (42) and Chetan Tangdi (22), were assaulted with a sword and knife on a street. The grievously injured duo collapsed at the spot and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
Bhiwandi taluka police station inspector Harshavardhan Barve said the motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. The bodies have been sent to a government hospital for postmortem examination.
A case under section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered against the unidentified assailants, and a manhunt is underway to nab the culprits.
