Mangaluru, Aug 26: St Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru, recently hosted its much-anticipated intellectual fests - Genesis for science students and Emporia for students of commerce and arts. These vibrant events served as platforms for students to showcase their academic prowess, creativity, and practical skills across various disciplines.
Intellectual fests like Genesis and Emporia play a crucial role in bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world application. They provide opportunities for students to engage deeply with their subjects, develop essential life skills, and prepare themselves for future academic and professional pursuits - all while fostering a sense of intellectual curiosity and community.




















































The opening ceremony was a grand affair, marked by the unveiling of the official fest logos, followed by a spectacular drama and dance performance that captivated the audience and set an energetic tone for the events to come.
Throughout the fests, students participated in a wide range of competitions, workshops, and interactive sessions that encouraged critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration - truly embodying the spirit of holistic education that St Aloysius PU College stands for.
The annual inter-class science fest, Genesis 2025, was held with great enthusiasm under the theme Think Quantum, Dream Cosmic. The competitions featured a rich variety of events, including car race, science model, physics magic show, nutrition challenge, 3D painting, doodle art, science memes, and mock press.
Emporia 2025, the annual inter-class commerce and arts intellectual fest, with its theme discover the extraordinary, included sixteen intellectually stimulating competitions such as best manager, human resource, mock press, quiz, mad ad, and Debate. The highlights of this fest were fashion icon, stock market master, statistical treasure hunt, and business model exhibition.
The valedictory ceremony of Genesis and Emporia was held on 23 August 2025. The principal, Fr Clifford Sequeira, was the guest of honour. In his address, Fr Clifford emphasized that participation in competitions is not merely about winning, but about discovering and celebrating one’s true potential. He encouraged students to embrace such platforms as opportunities for growth and self-discovery. Fr Clifford urged them to invest in skills beyond the syllabus, such as language proficiency, artificial intelligence, and financial literacy, which are essential in today’s dynamic world. Highlighting the importance of a proactive and creative approach, he encouraged students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and become problem-solvers, even in small roles. He also spoke about the value of being a team player, stressing that collaboration and cooperation are vital life skills. Furthermore, he underscored the importance of professionalism, sincerity, and discipline as foundational qualities for long-term success.
Fr Clifford concluded his speech by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the staff convenors, student convenors, and staff in-charge for their dedicated efforts in organizing the fests with such care and precision.
The winners were honoured by Fr Clifford Sequeira (principal), Fr Anthony Derrick (campus minister), the vice principals Muralikrishna G M and Vilma Fernandes, and the deans Kiran Shetty and Inas Dais.
