Middleburg, Feb 17: Oscar-winning actor Robert Duvall passed away peacefully at his home in Middleburg, Virginia, on Sunday, February 15. He was 95. His death was confirmed by his publicist and in a statement shared by his wife, Luciana Duvall.
“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything,” Luciana said, remembering her husband’s passion for cinema and his deep love for life.

Duvall made his film debut as Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), beginning a distinguished career that spanned more than six decades. He earned seven Academy Award nominations and won Best Actor for Tender Mercies in 1983. He also received four Golden Globe Awards, including for his role in the acclaimed miniseries Lonesome Dove. In 2005, he was honoured with the National Medal of Arts.
He became widely recognised for his role as Tom Hagen in The Godfather, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Acting alongside Al Pacino and Marlon Brando, Duvall’s restrained yet powerful performance made him indispensable to the landmark film.
In Apocalypse Now, he delivered one of cinema’s most memorable performances as Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore, further cementing his legacy as one of Hollywood’s finest character actors.
Known for his quiet intensity and unwavering commitment to authenticity, Duvall carved a unique place in the film industry, leaving behind a body of work celebrated across generations.
He is survived by his wife, Luciana Duvall.
