Islamabad, Aug 30: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday stated that his country is ready for a composite dialogue with India in a dignified and respectful manner, covering all outstanding issues including Jammu and Kashmir, while asserting that “Pakistan will not beg for talks.”
Dar, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, said, “Pakistan is ready for a composite dialogue with India in a dignified and respectful manner on all outstanding issues, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute as per its longstanding position.”
India, however, has clarified that dialogue will be limited to the return of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and counter-terrorism measures. The composite dialogue, originally launched in 2003 under General Pervez Musharraf, had eight components addressing contentious bilateral issues but was derailed after the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Speaking on recent border tensions, Dar claimed Pakistan’s narrative was acknowledged internationally through proactive diplomacy. He cited India’s precision strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’ in May, the ensuing counter-attacks by Pakistani forces, and the eventual understanding reached on May 10 to end the four-day conflict.
Dar warned that Pakistan is ready to respond fully to any provocation by India, including attacks by land, air, or sea.
