Mangalore, Feb 7:
A major fire broke out at the dumpyard located near Pacchanady in Vamanjoor here on Monday February 6 at around 8 pm. Efforts are still on to douse the fire. A thick veil of smoke has spread over the area.

MCC civic workers who usually dump the litter and set fire on it to make compost, repeated the action this time too. However, the fire went out of control on Monday night and began increasing in its intensity.

As many as six fire squad vehicles have been pressed into service from Pandeshwar and Kadri fire station. However, fire has not still not been doused as it is burning plastic.

Hence, efforts are being made to dig the ground with JCB and fire personnel are trying to douse the blaze at the earliest. Locals are facing problems as smoke is spreading around locality.
