Mysore: Mother Throws Two Children into Canal, Attempts Suicide

Mysore, Feb 7: A mother of two from Bore Anandur in Sriranapatna taluk, who had tried to commit suicide by jumping into Varuna Canal flowing near her village, was saved by villagers. However, before that, she had pushed her two children into the canal, causing their death.

The incident occurred on Monday February 6. The mother in question has been identified as Nirmala (28), and victims as Chelu (11), her daughter, and Gautam (8), son.

It is gathered that Nirmala was in a depressed mental state, as she was fed up of family problems. KRS police rushed to the spot after being informed of the incident, registered a case, and took steps to recover the bodies of the drowned children from the canal.
