Mangalore: Hemant Poojary Murder - Three Accused Held

Mangalore, Feb 8: Relating to the murder of Hemant Poojary (20) early morning on Monday purportedly to avenge the murder of Manikanth (22) on Sunday, the police have made three arrests.

The arrested have been identified as Ganesh (25) from Madhya village, Santosh (25) from Chelairu, and Nagesh (35), also from Chelairu.

All the arrested were produced in the court on Tuesday. The police said their interrogations have revealed that Hemant was murdered to take revenge for the murder of Manikanth by Hemant and his friends early morning on Sunday.

Ganesh is Manikanth’s maternal cousin, and Santosh and Nagesh are his friends, the police said. It has transpired that the threesome came across Hemant, who was fleeing from the police net, near Paddeangady. They promised Hemant of help, took him in a motor bike to Kuntalapadavu, before killing him with a knife and tossing his body into bushes on Sunday evening, it is learnt.

The police have also seized the knife used for this murder.
