Udupi: Annual Feast of Stella Maris Church, Kalmady Celebrated with Fervour

Udupi, Feb 8: The annual feast of Stella Maris parish, Kalmady, near here, was celebrated with devotion and religious fervour recently.

Udupi deanary and parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Fr Fred Mascarenhas was the main celebrant of the festal Holy Mass along with Kalmady parish priest Fr Joseph D'Souza and other priests from the deanary who were the co-celebrants.

Fr J B sequeira OFM, in his homily, said that in a family, all should live together like friends. Even Jesus preached his disciples the same. In friendship, we forgive easily and quickly. That's how a family can lead a happy life, he said.
 
Fr Joseph D'Souza presented the blessed candles to donors who contributed in organizing the annual feast. He also thanked the parish council vice-president Lewis Lobo, secretary Pricilla Alva, and other office-bearers for their support in the parish activities throughout the year.  

On Saturday February 4, vespers were celebrated and Fr Valerian Menezes OFM was the main celebrant of the holy Eucharist prayers.

A large number of parishioners and devotees from neighbouring parishes attended the festal Holy Mass and shared their joy on the occasion. 

Culture programmes were organised in the church grounds in the evening. Udupi Episcopal Vicar Fr Baptist Menezes, entreprenuer Pramod Madhwaraj, parish pastor council vice-president Louis Lobo, secretary Pricilla Alva and parish priest Fr Joseph were present on the dais. 

Parish priest Fr Joseph D'Souza was felicitated by the parishioners.

Various cultures programmes were performed by children belonging to the Church.

Popular Tulu comedy drama 'Aye Subhage' was presented by the members of the Rangataranga troupe, Kaup.
