Mangalore, Feb 8: The organizing committee of the U T Fareed Foundation, in association with Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy, conducted the Haji U T Fareed Memorial Lecture at Dr M V Shetty College seminar hall on Tuesday February 7. It was held on the occasion of the fifth death anniversary of former Ullal MLA Haji U T Fareed.

Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust secretary Dr M Ramgopal Shetty inaugurated the workshop on Tuesday morning. Dr Manjunath Kamath, professor, A J Institute of Medical Sciences, was the chief guest on the occasion.

In his inaugural address, Dr Shetty recalled the dynamic personality of Haji U T Fareed who was an undefeated MLA for four terms with the first term starting way back in 1972.  He emphasized the importance of women’s health in India and role of physiotherapy in improving women’s health.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kamath said that Dr M V Shetty College holds a special place in his life as the first lecture of his career was for students of the institute in 2000.  He stated the need to improve women’s health in India and shared his experience about working abroad.

Yenepoya Medical College Hospital Professor Dr Mustafa K, Mangalore Institute of Oncology cancer surgeon Dr Jalaludin Akbar, and Dr Kamath were the resource persons.
