Bangalore, Feb 8: The inaugural of ‘Painting Exhibition–2012’ featuring works by renowned artists Shivanna, Sunil Mishra, Narasimhamurti, and Venki Palimar will be held at Chitrakala Parishath, Kumara Krupa Road, on Thursday February 9.
The metro’s renowned artist S G Vasudev will inaugurate the exhibition on Thursday. Renowned artist Chandranath Acharya will preside over the programme.
State additional advocate general K M Nataraj as well as well-known orator and columnist Chakravarthy Soolibele will be the chief guests on the occasion.
The exhibition will remain open from Thursday February 9 to Tuesday February 14 between 10.30 am to 7.00 pm.
Twenty-seven-year-old Venki Palimar is a native of Udupi. He does not restrict himself from shifting between various themes for his works.
For him, the form becomes a mere reason for using his colour schemes. He has displayed his paintings during the exhibitions at Chitrakala Parishat Bangalore in 2008, Ambalpady Temple – Udupi in 2011, fifth annual Shilpakala exhibition in 2007, third annual Shilpakala Exhibition in Karnataka Shilpakala Academy Bangalore in 2005, and many others.
Fifty-one-year-old Shivanna G K is a resident of the metro. He works in water colours depict the sensuous rural life and the harmonious co-existence and romance between humans and nature. The subtle pastel shade palette adds to the gracefulness and airiness of the figures.
He has held exhibitions in the metro since 1983 in Chikmagalur, Bijapur, Dharwad and Bhadrawati. Shivanna has bagged the ‘Gowthama Buddha Award 1998–99’, and been nominated for the ‘International Biographical Society Award 1999–2000’.
M N Narasimhamurti’s works are based on the mythical stories and figures in traditional style. He subtly overlaps vibrantly painted figures with delicately drawn narrative figures in the background. To look at these drawings one has to move close to the painting and the strongly painted figures demand a viewing from a distance. He involves his viewers in a playful scheme of viewing his paintings.
Narasimhamurti has held exhibitions in art galleries at Hyderabad, Puduchery, Lucknow, Bangalore, Nagpur, Pune, and Moodbidri since 2004.
Thirty-one-year-old Sunil Mishra is a native of the metro who uses simple dancing forms in his paintings. The figures seem to be joyfully rejoicing amidst nature. They are engrossed in the own little world that they exist and celebrate the beauty of their existence. Mishra also uses relief techniques on his paintings to break the flatness of the canvases and create a three-dimensional effect that adds more vitality to his figures.
He is a post graduate in art from Hampi University and has held exhibitions in Udupi, Moodbidri, and Bangalore since 1998.
