Worker killed, four injured in chemical factory blast in Palghar

Palghar, Sep 19: Tragedy struck a chemical factory in Palghar district, Maharashtra, on Thursday evening when an explosion claimed the life of one worker and left four others injured.

The incident occurred around 7:30 pm at Limbani Salt Industries during the mixing of metal and acid, a highly reactive process, according to Vivekanand Kadam, Chief of the Palghar District Disaster Management Cell.

One worker was killed on the spot, while two others sustained severe burns and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are under critical care. Two more workers, positioned slightly farther from the site of the blast, escaped with minor injuries and are reported to be stable.

Emergency teams, including the fire brigade and disaster management personnel, promptly reached the scene and brought the situation under control.

Local police have launched an investigation into the explosion. Authorities are expected to register an offence once the official report is filed.
