Mangaluru, Sep 21: The Institute of Computer Science & Information Sciences, Srinivas University, came alive with colours, tradition, and cultural fervour as it hosted "Onotsavam 2k25" at the New Campus Auditorium on Wednesday, September 10, to mark the festival of Onam.
The celebration was aimed at fostering cultural harmony while offering students and faculty a glimpse into Kerala’s rich traditions.





Formal inaugural
The function began with a solemn inaugural ceremony in the presence of dignitaries including dean, Dr Subrahmanya Bhat, HoD Dr P Sridhara Acharya, MCA HoD Prof Swathi Kumari, cultural coordinators, faculty members, and students.
The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp, followed by an invocation prayer that set a serene tone. In their addresses, the dean and HoD highlighted the importance of celebrating cultural festivals like Onam to uphold India’s unity in diversity and commended the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee and student volunteers.
Cultural extravaganza
Soon after, the auditorium reverberated with vibrant performances. The rhythmic beats of Chenda Melam created a festive mood. A student dressed as King Mahabali was ceremoniously welcomed, symbolizing the legendary spirit of Onam. The graceful Thiruvathira Kali performed by female students captivated the audience with its elegance. Energetic dance performances by students from different batches added a youthful charm to the programme.
Sweet finale
In true Onam tradition, Payasam, the signature delicacy, was distributed to all, bringing a touch of sweetness to the celebrations and strengthening the spirit of togetherness.
Grand success
Onotsavam 2k25 stood out for its meticulous organisation, enthusiastic participation, and cultural richness. The programme was widely appreciated by faculty, students, and dignitaries, turning the campus into a hub of festivity and cultural pride.
