Palghar, Sep 29: A seven-year-old boy was killed and his 10-year-old sister injured after their mother allegedly thrashed them with a chapati roller for asking to eat non-vegetarian food in Palghar, Maharashtra, on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Chinmay Dhumde. According to police, his mother, Pallavi Dhumde, became enraged when he requested a chicken dish and beat him to death. She then attacked his sister with the same object. The girl is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Neighbours alerted the authorities after hearing screams, prompting local police, the crime branch, and the sub-divisional officer to rush to the scene. A murder case has been registered, and the accused woman has been arrested.

“Pallavi Dhumde, 40, lived with her family in a flat in the Kashipada area. Her son was brutally beaten with household items and died as a result. Her daughter was also attacked. Further investigations are underway,” said Palghar District Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh.
