Clarke to Miss ODI Against Sri Lanka

Adelaide, Feb 13 (IANS): Australia captain Michael Clarke will sit out of Friday's ODI against Sri Lanka in the tri-series due to a hamstring strain.

Clarke underwent scans Monday. It was revealed that he has a strain to his right hamstring. He was injured in Sunday's loss to India here at the Adelaide Oval.

"I have a grade one hamstring strain, so will be out of Friday's game," Clarke posted on Twitter, describing the prognosis as "good news".

Clarke hopes to return for Australia's ODI against India Sunday in Brisbane.

Cricket Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said Clarke has a low grade injury.

"He had scans today (Monday) that confirmed the low grade nature of the injury. He will not recover in time to play in Australia's next Commonwealth Bank Series game Friday against Sri Lanka. I will assess him later this week and decide on his availability for the game in Brisbane against India," Kontouris said in a statement.

The squad names will be released Tuesday and selectors could bring back ex-skipper Ricky Ponting as Clarke's temporary replacement.
